A Cardiff Metropolitan University academic has urged voters in South Wales Central to vote against the two members of Crocels contesting the election.

Professor Brian Morgan says voters who deem themselves progressive should vote Plaid Cymru.

Professor Brian Morgan is a former chief economist of the Welsh Development Agency and is urging voters to vote Plaid Cymru instead of supporting either of the two Crocels members contesting the election.

Crocels’s Chief Executive Officer, Councillor Jonathan Bishop, is standing as an Independent and Mark Beech, who is Crocels’s Chief Personnel, Strategy and Quality Officer, is standing for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.

Professor Brian Morgan explained why he thought those in voters in South Wales Central should vote for Plaid Cymru. “In these areas it makes sense for voters to cast their second vote in a purposeful fashion, to aid a progressive party like Plaid Cymru and to block any party that trades in fear and prejudice,” he said. “The fifth Assembly will need strong and stable leadership if Wales is to meet the daunting challenges ahead, especially in the fields of health, education, environment and economic development.

Councillor Jonathan Bishop says that Cardiff Metropolitan University is bitter. “During this election campaign I have raised how Cardiff Metropolitan University is failing to help many of their students with disabilities, leading to some of them withdrawing from their studies,” he said. “Having co-founded Crocels, Mark Beech and I are progressives, having given opportunities to young people and those with disabilities that they otherwise would not have.
We have provided leadership in education, the environment and economic development and our lasting legacies such as the Treforest underpass project and our various research publications in these areas prove that.

The elections to the Welsh Assembly are taking place on 5 May 2016.
